City of Newport Beach Junior Lifeguard Program
Divisions B, C, & D:

Junior Lifeguard Headquarters: 901 E. Ocean Front, Newport Beach, CA
- Except on field trip days, Division B, C, and D JGs report to and dismiss from JGHQ each day.
- The designated drop off area for Junior Lifeguards is at the flagpole on Main Street. Please, AVOID the "A" & "B" Street parking lots as they get very congested.
- Instructions: Turn right on Palm Street and follow the road around without entering the Main St parking lot. You will see the drop off area on the right, just passed the pier when you turn on Main.
- Parking is metered. Remember to pay at the kiosk.
- Do not park illegally. Do not block emergency access.
- NOTE: If this is your JG's first year in the program, make sure to go over your pick-up location with them. Also remind them that it may be like school pick-up, where you have to wait in line and might not be there right at the end of the session.
Division A:
- Lifeguard Headquarters: 70 Newport Pier, Newport Beach, CA
- MONDAYS & TUESDAYS: Report to Tower 20 most Mondays and Tuesdays.
- WEDNESDAYS: Most Wednesdays are field trip days.
- THURSDAYS & FIRST DAY: On the first day of the program and on Thursdays, report to JG Headquarters.
- The Division A summer calendar will be posted in June.
Balboa Island Drop Off/Pick-Up:
- DO NOT DROP JGs OFF ON AGATE. This puts JG safety at risk, creates traffic congestion, and hinders the Ferry’s operation.
- Arrive early! Please arrive at least 45 minutes early to allow enough time for crossing.
- Remind your JG to be respectful and follow all rules.
- Footwear is required! JGs without footwear may be denied entry to the ferry.

Bike Safety:
Please remind your JG to:
- Wear a buckled helmet
- Stop at stop signs and watch for cars
- Ride with the flow of traffic
- Give pedestrians the right-of-way
- Wear shoes
Remember that our surrounding areas are commercial and residential. Please respect all of our neighbors, drive carefully, and follow all motor vehicle laws.
