City of Newport Beach Junior Lifeguard Program

Event Time:
- JGs will participate during their normal JG session.
- Non-JG participants will sign up for either the 9:45 a.m. or 1:45 p.m. event.
Location: Junior Lifeguard Headquarters
Non-NBJG Event Registration:
For people interested in participating in the event, but who are not current Newport Beach Junior Lifeguards, please complete BOTH the form and waiver below.
All non-JG participants need to pre-register by: Monday, July 5 at 4:00 p.m.
- Ben Carlson Entry Form (for participants who are NOT currently NBJGs)
- Ben Carlson Event Waiver (for participants who are NOT currently NBJGs)
Newport Beach Junior Lifeguard: Current Newport Beach Junior Lifeguards, will attend during their normal session time. No sign-up needed.
Event Description:
On July 6, 2014 Newport Beach Lifeguard and former JG Instructor, Ben Carlson, made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty while saving the life of another. On this day each year, we pay tribute to the sacrifice he made.
As part of the Ben Carlson Day event, there is a running and ocean swim event. There will also be other celebration elements to honor Ben and the role of ocean lifeguards in the community.
